Restorative Dentistry

Restorative Dentistry Service in Budapest

Come to Budapest and save your teeth!

Our goal is to avoid tooth extraction. So, preserving your teeth is a top priority for us. For a successful tooth repairing treatment it is crucial to catch the problem as early as possible. By having regular dental check-ups, you can minimize the chances of developing a serious problem that will result in the extraction of a damaged tooth.

Restorative dentistry is an umbrella term involving dental treatments that are focusing on restoring and repairing damaged teeth such as dental crowns, bridges, fillings, root canal treatments and implants. Aesthetic treatments like veneers and tooth whitening are considered cosmetic dentistry. This page is dedicated to restorative treatments, with the exception of dental implantation, which has its own page.

Crowns and Bridges

A dental crown is a protective outer covering, basically a cap for a damaged tooth. Most often the crown is made of tooth colored porcelain. As it is custom-made, it fits perfectly into your mouth and dental structure. The crown serves as an aesthetic cover, but above all as a protective shield. The crown is immovable as it is placed with a strong dental cement. With a dental crown you regain your chewing ability and can use the restored tooth just as your intact ones.

Unlike crowns, a dental bridge replaces one or more adjacent missing teeth. As this tooth replacement solution acts as a bridge, it needs support on both sides. The adjacent natural healthy teeth hold the dental bridge in place. These supporting teeth receive dental crowns which are bonded to the artificial tooth or teeth. The dental bridge is usually made of natural-looking ceramic resign and mimics your original teeth well.

Once you get a dental crown or bridge, you won’t have to think about it for the next decade, as these dental solutions last 10-15 years, provided you have a good oral care routine.

Aesthetic Fillings

Undoubtedly the most common restorative dental treatment is filling. In case of a small cavity, meaning that the damage does not require a root canal treatment, the cavity is filled with composite resin. Such material is a mixture of plastic and glass and has the color of your natural teeth. Thus, unlike outdated amalgam, gold, or silver fillings the result of composite fillings is unnoticeable. The filling serves as a shield, it protects the tooth from further physical or bacterial damage. Fillings can even last for 15 years if you take care of your oral hygiene well.

At our dental practice, we have long prioritized aesthetics in our treatments. In the case of a dental filling, we focus on a lifelike appearance. The secret of natural looking composite fillings is that they are built up with great care, in several layers, using different shades. In this way, it follows the changing coloring of the natural tooth structure. We are most proud when, after an aesthetic filling procedure, our patient asks us, which tooth they should be looking at. After our treatments, they can’t really tell the difference between healthy and filled teeth.

Microscopic Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is the best way to save severely decayed teeth from extraction. In our dental clinic, root canal treatment is performed under a microscope to give the best possible chance of saving your damaged tooth.

Microscopic root canal treatment is one of the most modern methods for saving seriously damaged teeth. As a consequence of severe tooth decay, the tooth root can become inflamed. Root canal treatment is actually the treatment of an inflamed tooth root. The use of a dental microscope during root canal treatment allows for much more precise exploration, cleaning and root filling.

Advantages of the microscopic root canal treatment compared to the traditional root canal treatment:
  • Thanks to the magnification function of the dental microscope, root canals are much easier to inspect and clean, whether using manual or mechanical root cleaning methods. In addition, root canal filling can be performed more accurately.
  • Thanks to the special light source built into the microscope head, your damaged tooth surface is directly illuminated, giving your dentist an excellent view of the treatment area.
  • Thanks to the high precision of the procedure, successful root canal treatment can be carried out without ‘sacrificing’ too much tooth material.
  • There is much less chance that the treated tooth root will crack or the instrument will break into the tooth during treatment.

Microscopic root canal treatment is more time-consuming than traditional root canal treatment and therefore more expensive. However, this extra cost will pay for itself many times over, as you will no longer have to worry about your teeth being treated with precision and expertise, and you will save the cost of a possible corrective procedure later.

Microscopic root canal treatment is performed in our dental clinic by endodontist Dr. Vaszilev Kaloján. Dr. Vaszilev is also a university professor and teaches this procedure to future dentists
